Lincoln County Hand Casting

November 24, 2010

On November 19th myself and my assistant drove to Lincoln County to cast the hand of a female veteran and four of her friends and co workers. The mayor, a local newspaper photographer and several interested parties stopped by to watch the process. It makes me feel really good to know that I am making a difference in someones life, and creating a piece of art that inspire a future generation.

“New record for Richard Avedon photography sales

Paris has been celebrating the art of photography this month with a battery of exhibitions, one of the world’s major photography fairs, Paris-Photo, which ended on Sunday, and some high profile auctions. Here it was Christie’s which stole the limelight with 65 works by renowned fashion photographer, Richard Avedon, who died in 2004. All 65 were sold, the highest price, and a new record, being £719,000 for a unique seven foot high print of a model, Dovima, posing in a Christian Dior evening dress with elephants from the Cirque d’Hiver, Paris, in 1955. This particular print, the largest of this image, was made in 1978 for Avedon’s fashion retrospective at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and was bought by Maison Christian Dior.”

Hello I would like to introduce myself. I have been a commercial portrait photographer for the last 15 years and have now finally found my niche as a fine artist specializing in “Trees”. I am a member of The Light Factory, a contemporary museum for film and photography and was an 11 month artist in residence at The McColl Center for Visual Art. I donate photographs to help support Art with Heart and The light Factory. Aside from Art I enjoy helping my community and volunteer counseling to the homeless at Urban Ministry Center and CMC Mercy hospital. Follow me on my journey through the forest, into the minds and bodies of trees, using photography and sculpture to transform the spiritual into art.
